Baidu Launching Baidu 123 for Senior Citizens

baidu-123Sohu IT reported yesterday that Baidu is testing a new product “senior citizen search” at 123.baidu.com. However, it’s currently a blank page with one line of notice, “Baidu senior citizen search is still under internal beta.”.

123.baidu.com is not indexed in Google but Baidu, so here is the cached page (Chinese). And, here is the translated one.

The cached page doesn’t seem appealing to senior citizens; it looks more like a simplified link directory.

Update (April 9): now you can access 123.baidu.com, it looks a lot like the cached page (I can’t tell the difference). Tried a few keywords in 123.baidu.com, compared with www.baidu.com. The results are exactly the same except that: this senior citizen search doens’t include paid search listings; or, maybe not yet.

Seems like Baidu with a few minor changes:
- bigger text by default with a text-size changer as well.
- a few less options.
- A prominent link to a help page
- no ads
