Baidu quietly launched its free “search open platform” for webmasters and developers. Interested parties can apply here. You need to submit your scanned identity card with application and choose your verfication method (meta tag or upload HTML file).

Unless you provide unique and fresh content, you may not get approval in your application. Unlike Google webmaster tools, you can’t simply sign up to join. Baidu search open platform is only open to applications with specific content like Chinese currency exchange rate, soccer match schedule, and etc.

Once you get approval, you can submit more than web pages to Baidu, and specify its update frequency and matching keywords. You can also specify how you would like the content to be displayed in the result page such as this one below (keyword: Chinese yuan exchange rate):

There are currently six templates to choose; however, Baidu can customize another one if you really need to. You can get data such as impressions, clicks, CTR, and top queries.
