Part-time Sellers Account For 70% Of China Online Shops

Beijing University and Alibaba Research Center jointly issued a report on “Those started online shops”.

The report demonstrates that large number of part-time sellers swarm into the main forces of online selling, which accounts for 70% of the whole online retailers. They are white-collars, students, unemployed youths, housewives, farmers and even retired workers among. Except for conventional supplies like clothes and accessories, primary products, crafts and local specialties are brought onto the online shelves.

The report also indicates that the commodities sold by part-time sellers are targeting some specific groups while full-time sellers meet the need of public groups.

We can anticipate that with the diversification of mass consumption, small batch production, small-scale operation and personalized service will be the trend of online commercial activities.
