American Girl Sets up Wokai.com Providing Microloans in Rural China

Wokai is a 501c3 non-profit organization that enables Chinese people to lift themselves from poverty. Wokai is Chinese for “I start,” demonstrating the founders’ commitment to helping the impoverished help themselves.

Through Wokai.com, contributors are worldwide with entrepreneurs in rural China to help them start small businesses. Wokai is based in Oakland, California, with core operations in Beijing.
