Taobao launched its desktop application just made for Windows 7 OS though the final release could be installed on Windows 2000/XP/Vista as well.
Called “Ren Wo Tao” (direct translation is “as me dig”), this desktop application is based on Microsoft’s WPF technology combined with Taobao website functions. Ren Wo Tao (Beta) will support extensions: Combining Taobao Open Platform (TOP), it provides API for third-party developers; it will also enable the users to add plugins.
Ren Wo Tao includes a search product called “Ren Wo So” (“so” means “search” in Chinese). Ren Wo So enables users to search Taobao products and shows the results in the cloud and list format (shown as the above two images); it also supports touch screen. Ren Wo Tao also provides price alerts for buyers’ designated products with expected price set.
Ren Wo Tao provides sellers multiple templates with rich editing functions and rich media embedding with synchronization with their Taobao online stores. In addition, it provides auto-generation of printable order forms to save the sellers a lot of time.
