As of 30 June 2014, the total number of users in Baidu app distribution platforms exceeded 600 million and with an average of 130 million daily distribution and 10 million developers, having become the largest Android app distribution platform in China in Q2 2014.
According to latest data, in H1 2014, users in China mobile app distribution market had an increase of 25% from last year and total distribution increased by 25%. The top 3 ones in mobile distribution market were Baidu, 360 and Tencent, accounting for over 70% market share. Since Baidu bought 91 company in 2013, it has been top in the market and gradually making gap from its competitors.
The number of daily active users increased by 27% and 64% users used mobile phones with domestic brands in the first half of 2014. And, the number of daily active users increased by 27% in Android app distribution market.
In H1 2014, users using mobile phones with domestic brands had 6 percentage higher than the second half of 2013. Domestic brands like Xiaomi, Huawei, Lenovo, Oppo accounted for 64%. Good hardware and optimized operating system provide good environment for apps on Android phones.
With the improvement of download environment, popularity of smartphones and the development of app distribution platforms, users are more active than before. By the end of Q2 2014, there were 27% users who download apps on distribution platform and on average each user downloaded 2.9 apps per day.
Overall video app is the most popular app. Besides, students and white collars tend to favor game apps. In the mean time search, social, news and shopping are the most popular app types with rapid growth by total downloads in China.
China mobile app distribution market is developing steadily with stable increase of smartphone users and Internet users in China. Compared with mobile app distribution market in Q1 which was an off season, the total distribution in Q2 had begun to rise.
