The wearable device awareness in China is 54.6%, mostly smart watches, smart glasses and small bracelets. But, the usage rate is only 2.9% according to a Tencent survey.
In China’s smart watch and bracelet markets, the leader is Samsung and Xiaomi respectively.
Poor battery life is the biggest factor that affects Chinese consumers’ experience using small device.
According to IDC’s latest data in the quarterly report, China’s smart device (including desktop, laptop, tablet PC and smartphone) shipment will reach 390 million in 2013, with the YoY growth of 33.1%. Influenced by the rapid growth of smartphone market, China smart device shipment is estimated to reach 560 million units.
China small device users expect more functions from their small devices according to Tencent.
Baidu unveiled a smart device called Baidu Kuaiso, or Baidu Chopstick Search in addition to BaiduEye at Baidu World 2014 conference. It also launched the first smart watch client-side in January 2015.
