Baidu Mobile Search MAUs Reached 643 Mln in Q3 2015

Baidu reported revenues of 18.383 billion yuan ($2.892 billion) for the third quarter of 2015, representing a 36.0% increase from the corresponding period in 2014 and $120 million increase from Q2 2015. Mobile revenues accounted for up to 54% of the total. The increase of revenues was mainly driven by its online marketing services.

Owing to approximately 623,000 active online marketing customers in the third quarter of 2015, online marketing revenues of Baidu for Q3 2015 were 17.680 billion yuan ($2.782 billion), a 31.7% increase from Q3 in 2014. Revenue per online marketing customer for Q3 was approximately 28,300 yuan ($4,453), a 9.3% increase from Q3 2014 and a 3.3% increase compared to Q2 2015.

Monthly active users (MAUs) of Baidu mobile search were 643 million for the month of September 2015, an increase of 26% year-over-year. Mobile now accounts for nearly two-thirds of Baidu’s search traffic.

The gross merchandise value (GMV) for transaction services totaled 60.2 billion yuan ($9.5 billion) for the third quarter of 2015, an increase of 119% year-over-year. Baidu’s exchange of Qunar shares with Ctrip and purchasing its shares back showed great confidence for its future development.

Baidu’s Third Quarter 2015 Highlights

  • Revenues in Q3 2015 were 18.383 billion yuan ($2.892 billion) for the third quarter of 2015, representing a 36.0% increase from the corresponding period in 2014;
  • Operating profit in Q3 2015 was 2.512 billion yuan ($395.2 million), a 35.9% decrease from Q3 2014;
  • Net income attributable to Baidu in Q3 2015 was 2.841 billion yuan ($447.0 million), a 26.7% decrease from Q3 2014;
  • Mobile search monthly active users (MAUs) were 643 million for the month of September 2015, an increase of 26% year-over-year;
  • Mobile maps MAUs were 326 million for the month of September 2015, an increase of 34% year-over-year; and
  • Baidu Wallet activated accounts reached 45 million at the end of September 2015, an increase of 520% year-over-year.
