In first two months of 2016, the total retail sales of consumer goods in China reached 5,291.0 billion yuan (US$816.71 billion), up by 10.2% year-on-year nominal growth rate. The real growth rate was 9.6% according to National Bureau of Statistics of China.
The retail sales of consumer goods in urban areas was 4,530.3 billion yuan (US$699.29 billion) in February 2016, up by 10.1% year-on-year; in rural areas it was 760.7 billion yuan (US$117.42 billion), up by 10.9% year-on-year.
Total retail sales of consumer goods reached 30,093.1 billion yuan (US$4,573.5 billion) with an annual growth rate of 10.7% in China in 2015.
From January to February 2016, the national online retail sales of goods and services in China was 636.1 billion yuan (US$98.19), increased by 27.2% year-on-year. Of which, the online retail sales of physical goods were 505.3 billion yuan, increased by 25.4%, accounting for 9.5% of the total retail sales of consumer goods; Of the online retail sales of physical goods, food, clothing and other commodities went up by 37.0%, 14.2%, and 29.6% respectively.
