Android increased its sales share in urban China to 76.4% for the three months ending February 2016 from 73% in the same period a year ago according to Kantar Worldpanel ComTech.
Android’s solid growth in urban China during the three months ending February 2016 is likely due to strong sales during the Chinese New Year holiday.
iOS declined 3.2 percentage points between February 2015 and February 2016. Huawei was able to recapture the top spot on the Smartphone brand leader board, capturing 24.4% of Smartphones sold in urban China, just ahead of Apple’s 22.2% according to Kantar Worldpanel ComTech.
Chinese-brand smartphones are increasingly popular among Russian consumers with 33% market share; the number of global smartphone shipments reached 1.293 billion with an annual increase rate of 10.3%, among which Chinese brands accounted for over 40% with shipments of 539 million units in 2015.
