Currently, the penetration rate of virtual reality devices in China is only 15%, lower than computers (93%), mobile phones (87%), tablets (53%), and wearable devices (47%).
China is estimated to see 650 million yuan in VR devices sales in 2016 and grow to 1.6 billion yuan in 2017 according to GfK.
Among the existing VR device owners, 44% own middle-end VR devices; 33% low-end; and, 23% high-end VR devices.
28% respondents in a Deloitte survey expressed intentions to buy VR devices in the next 12 months, which shows lower purchase intentions than other digital devices. A survey done by Niko Partners earlier this year showed that more than half of Chinese gamers are interested in VR and almost 30% are willing to spend up to $200 USD on a device.
