Zhihu, a Chinese version of Quora, is a social question and answer website launched in Jan 26th 2011. At the beginning of Zhihu’s launch, it was similar to Quora’s functionality and interface. Zhihu started with a group of technical and entrepreneurial users, aimed at attracting high-quality answers from experts and elites in diversified industries.
Zhihu’s daily active users reached 600 thousand, monthly active users hit 10 million. After the launch of Zhihu, due to rigorously invitation registration, users grew at a slow rate. Zhihu open registration announced on March 20th 2013, users have been growing explosively thereafter, increased 10 fold in half a year. And early this year, Zhihu launched mobile app Zhihu Daily which publishes selected hot topics and valuable contents.
