China's smartwatch market signaled a positive turn in the second quarter of 2023, witnessing a 5% year-on-year (YoY) shipment growth, as revealed by Counterpoint Research.
Senior Analyst Shenghao Bai weighed in on the development, attributing the rise to the low base of the same period in the previous year. Bai highlighted the role of the Q2 holiday travel and the 618 e-commerce festival in surging consumer demands. "The market has recovered slightly better than we had predicted,” he added.
Huawei continued its dominance, recording a staggering 58% YoY growth. The brand's consistent appeal was reinforced by introducing its latest models - the Huawei Watch 4 and Huawei Watch 4 Pro series.
Older models, like the Huawei Watch GT 3 series, also maintained their popularity. The Huawei Watch Ultimate, another recent addition, made notable strides in the ultra-premium segment.
