We all know total sales on Taobao and Tmall are huge, which is why so many international merchants want to launch their online store on Tmall; but how much monthly sales can they expect? Here are some data showing top brands on Taobao (including Tmall data) in the five categories with the sales revenue: bags and luggages, men’s clothing, women’s clothing, men’s shoes, and women’s shoes.
In July 2014, Red Gragonfly with total sales volume of 342,083, was the best seller on Taobao among various online women-shoes’ brands in China. We can observe that brands which are sold on traditional market still take leading place; although Guciheaven, an e-commerce brand, ranked the third in July in terms of sales on Taobao, it is still not strong enough with a single international online brand in China’s online Women-shoes market.
General tendency of men-shoes sales online shows a decline on Taobao in China. Playboy, Aokang and Red Gragonfly are the top three with a slight decrease in sales value compared with sales in June 2014 in China.
With active marketing policy in June, online market run well while in July, women clothes were not selling well. Ochirly no longer ranked top as in the last few months, and was replaced by SZ from South Korea. It is estimated that August can be another active month for online women-clothes market in China.
Sales of men-clothes on Taobao decreased a lot in July 2014. Compared with the sales of RMB 1,400 million in June, Seven Wolves’ sales in July has decreased by 40% on Taobao. The best selling brands are still business and casual man-clothes as the same types on traditional market.
The top three ones, Goldlion, MCM, Michael Kors among luggage & bag’ s brands on Taobao, had no change compared with June. Luggage & bags online market shows stable increasing trend while clothing market is not running so well probably because consumers are getting used to the price for luxury luggage and they could use the luggage during the whole year with no season limitation.
