In the whole year of 2018, China’s total retail sales of consumer goods reached 38,098.7 billion yuan (US$5,538.68 billion), up by 9% year-on-year. Of the total, the retail sales of consumer goods of units above designated size was 14,531.1 billion yuan, increased 5.7%.
In the whole year of 2018, the retail sales of consumer goods in urban areas was 32,563.7 billion yuan, up by 8.8 percent year-on-year; while that in rural areas was 5,535 billion yuan, up by 10.1 percent.
In 2017, the national online retail sales of goods and services were 9,006.5 billion yuan with an increase of 23.9% year-on-year.
The online retail sales of physical goods was 7,019.8 billion yuan, increased 25.4%. In the online retail sales of physical goods, food, clothing and other commodities went up by 33.8, 22 and 25.9 percent respectively.
