The total retail sales of consumer goods in China reached 2,727.8 billion yuan (US$397.16 billion) in April 2017, up by 10.7% YoY (nominal growth rate).
After seasonal adjustment, the total retail sales of consumer goods in China rose by 0.79% month-to-month. As of 30 April, the total year-to-date retail sales of consumer goods reached 11,310.2 billion yuan (US1,646.75 bn), up by 10.2% YoY.
The retail sales of consumer goods in China’s urban areas was 2,348.3 billion yuan, up by 10.4%,YoY. In rural areas, it was 379.5 billion yuan, up by 12.6% YoY. The first months’ retail sales of consumer goods in urban areas was 9,688.1 billion yuan in 2017, up by 9.9% YoY compared with 1,622.1 billion yuan in rural areas (+12.1%, YoY).
In the first four months of 2017, the online retail sales of goods and services in China totaled 1,918.0 billion yuan (US$279.26 bn), an increase of 32.0% YoY, accounting for 17.0% of total retail sales in the same period.
The online retail sales of physical goods totaled 1,461.7 billion yuan from January to April, up 25.9%, accounting for 12.9% of the total retail sales of consumer goods; physical goods, food, clothing and other commodities went up by 19.3%, 18.4% and 29.5% respectively.
Jingdong GMV for the first quarter of 2017 increased by 42% to 184.1 billion yuan (US$26.7 billion) from 129.3 billion yuan in Q1 2016. Read more »
