Vipshop’s total active customers grew by 11% year-on-year to 26.5 million in Q3 2018, which was 29.8 million in Q2 2018. The number of new customers from Tencent and JD.com accounted for approximately 22% of Vipshop’s total new customers.
Total orders increased by 29% year-on-year to 95.7 million in Q3 2018. The average revenue per customer increased by approximately 5% year-on-year in Q3 2018. Specifically, around 85% of customers were returning customers and repeat customers placed 96% of orders.
Approximately 2.3 million customers enrolled in Vipshop’s Super VIP Paid Membership Program as of September 30, 2018, representing a 21% increase quarter-on-quarter.
Vipshop’s Internet finance subsidiary completed its first offering of asset-backed notes (“ABN”) in an aggregate principal amount of 520 million yuan in September 2018.
Vipshop added approximately 40,000 square meters of warehousing space in Q3 2018. It has about 2.9 million square meters of total warehousing space as of September 2018, of which Vipshop owns around 1.8 million square meters.
Total net revenue increased by 16.4% year-on-year in Q3 2018 to 17.8 billion yuan (US$2.6 billion). Gross profit increased by 3.8% year-on-year to 3.6 billion yuan (US$528.7 million) in this quarter.
Net income attributable to Vipshop’s shareholders was 228.7 million yuan (US$33.3 million), as compared with 338.1 million yuan in the prior year period. Non-GAAP net income attributable to Vipshop’s shareholders was 500.8 million yuan (US$72.9 million), as compared with 559.8 million yuan in the prior year period.
