Varieties of communities are built online and organized by companies, interest groups, or entrepreneurs in China. The most frequently used platforms of communications in the online communities are WeChat Group, QQ Group, and WeChat Official Account.
Part of Chinese social media, Baidu Tieba, or Baidu Post Bar, a social network owned by Baidu, was established in December 2003 with forum-like features and has one billion registered users with close to 8.2 million topic boards. And the number of monthly active users is close to 300 million.
Baidu Tieba allowed anonymous posting before 2010 which just showed IP address, but now it only allows posting by registered users.
According to Alexa Internet, traffic to Baidu Tieba makes up more than 10% of the total traffic to Baidu properties.

The concept is very similar, and it looks a lot like a traditional online forum in its early days, but now Baidu Tieba consists of millions of very specific topics or interest boards (bars) with social features.
