Chinese-brand smartphones are increasingly popular among Russian consumers with 33% market share according to Svyaznoy, Russian mobile phone retailer.
1.2 million Chinese brand mobile phones are sold in the first two months of 2016, an increase by 50% YoY.
Lenovo is the most popular Chinese brand in Russia and one out of ten mobile phones in Russia is Lenovo. ZTE and Asus both doubled their sales volume with 5% and 4% market share respectively according to Svyaznoy.
Chinese smartphones are expected to account for 40% in Russia in 2016. Chinese smartphone brands made up about 20% of India’s smartphone market in 2015. The ratio was only about 4% to 5% several years ago according to Indian website Dediff.
The number of global smartphone shipments reached 1.293 billion with an annual increase rate of 10.3%, among which Chinese brands accounted for over 40% with shipments of 539 million units in 2015 according to TrendForce.
