Huawei, Oppo and BBK Communication Equipment together accounted for 21% of the smartphones sold to end users worldwide in Q3 2016. They were the only smartphone vendors in the global top five to increase their sales and market share during the quarter, according to Gartner.
Huawei market share increased to 8.7% in Q3 2016 from 7.7% in Q3 2015; OPPO from 3.4% to 6.7%; and, BBK 2.9% to 5.3%.
The total shipment of smartphones in China exceeded 115.1 million units in Q3 2016 according to IDC data, led by Oppo (17.5%), Vivo (16.7%), and Huawei (15.7%). The number of active smartphone devices in China reached 1.45 billion units, an increase of 11.5% QoQ according to Umeng.
